The services provided under general dentistry to ensure teeth stay healthy, functional and look attractive include:

Cleaning and oral examinations

Cleaning, also known as dental cleaning or prophylaxis, is a process of removing plaque and tartar buildup from the teeth and gums.

Oral examinations, on the other hand, are typically performed by a dentist to assess the overall health of the teeth and gums.

Both cleaning and oral examinations are essential for maintaining good oral health.

Dental crowns, also known as caps, are custom-made covers placed over a damaged tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance.

On the other hand, bridgework is a type of dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth.

Both dental crowns and bridgework can be effective solutions for restoring damaged or missing teeth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a popular and effective option for replacing missing teeth. They are artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed into the jawbone to support a replacement tooth or bridge.

Dental implants are made of biocompatible materials that fuse with the surrounding bone and create a strong and durable foundation for the replacement tooth.

Tooth Extraction

Tooth extraction is the process of removing a tooth from its socket in the jawbone. It is usually done as a last resort when a tooth is severely damaged, decayed, or infected and cannot be saved through other treatments, like fillings, root canals, or crowns.

Tooth extractions can be simple or surgical, depending on the complexity of the procedure.

Fillings

Dental fillings are used to repair teeth that have been damaged by decay, cavities, or fractures. The procedure involves removing the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth and filling the resulting hole with a dental filling material.

Dental fillings can be made of a variety of materials, including amalgam, composite resin, porcelain, and gold.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer screening is a routine examination that is performed by a dental professional to look for signs of cancer or pre-cancerous conditions in the mouth.

The dentist or hygienist will examine the mouth, tongue, and throat for any abnormalities, such as red or white patches, sores, lumps or thickening, or changes in the texture of the tissues.

Orthodontic Treatment

Orthodontic treatment is a type of dental treatment that focuses on correcting misaligned teeth and jaws. The goal of the treatment is to improve the appearance and function of the teeth and jaws, as well as promote overall oral health.

The length of the treatment ranges from several months to a few years depending on the severity of the misalignment.

Root Canal

A root canal is a dental procedure used to treat a tooth that has become infected or damaged deep within the pulp or nerve chamber of the tooth.

The procedure involves removing the infected or damaged pulp tissue and nerves from the tooth, cleaning and shaping the root canals, and filling the canals with a special material to seal them off.

Sealants

Dental sealants are used to protect teeth from decay. Sealants are typically applied to the molars and premolars, which are the back teeth that are most susceptible to decay due to their shape and location in the mouth.

The process of applying sealants is quick and painless and does not require any drilling or removal of tooth structure.

TMJ Treatment

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint, which is the joint that connects the jawbone to the skull. TMJ disorder causes pain, discomfort, and dysfunction in the jaw and surrounding areas.

TMJ disorder symptoms are jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds when opening or closing the mouth, difficulty chewing or biting, headaches, earaches, and neck pain.

Dentures

Dentures are removable prosthetic devices used to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They are made of a variety of materials, including acrylic resin, porcelain, or a combination of materials.

Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth still remain in the mouth.
