The Wand

If you ask someone what events in the dental appointment they hate, I am willing to bet “THE SHOT” will make the top three on most folks list.  However, forgoing the anesthetic part of the appointment would probably make number one on everyone’s list.  How can we move the injection further down the list?

For about the past 15 years I have been using “The Wand” for all my injections.  (No, we haven’t invented a pill yet.)  This is a computer assisted system that allows me to apply the anesthetic in a very gentle, slow-flowing manner.  Unlike the old style hypodermic syringe, I hold a very light pen-like hand piece that allows me precise placement, and a precision pumping system connected by a small tube that gently, slowly, and smoothly injects the anesthetic.  Yes, we still have to get it under the skin, but I have had dozens of patients ask me “Did you just give me a shot?”  I like that question.

Takes longer to do, but then I have never had a patient ask me to “Inject faster”.

Intra-Oral Camera

Intraoral imaging gives you a detailed view of your mouth. Words come to life when you can see what we see.

Visually transferring specific conditions in your mouth to a computer screen brings clarity simply not possible with a traditional mouth mirror. Specialized hand-held wands quickly capture the details of your teeth and gums. In fact, even small cracks that often lead to broken teeth appear vividly, just with the click of a button.

As an added benefit, dental insurance benefits frequently pay easier with the visual proof of a captured image in our records.

The combination of inhaled nitrous oxide and oxygen is a safe and effective means of managing pain and anxiety in dentistry, when used appropriately.

The restorations and appliances used to restore and protect your mouth involve high levels of customization.  Traditionally, hours of hand labor in a dental laboratory are invested in these precise products.  With the adoption of more technology into dentistry, digital imaging continues to grow in importance.

Most restorations begin with a mold of your mouth that involves messy impression materials. With the Itero Digital Scanner, you can say goodbye to the mess. Itero eliminates this step, replacing it with simple digital images captured with a handheld wand.  The images quickly appear on a computer monitor as 3-D models of your teeth.  Dr. Knudson reviews the enlarged detailed images, ensuring that the information meets the Beautiful Dentistry standard.

With a simple click of the mouse, the files are instantly transferred via the internet to begin the process of designing your restoration or other prescribed treatment.  Reduced shipping time expedites the return of your case to our office while ensuring you receive all the advantages of digital impressions:

•    NO messy impressions
•    INSTANT images for review
•    DETAILED reproduction for better outcomes
•    FASTER case completion
•    EXCEPTIONAL fitting restorations and appliances

We look forward to introducing you to the innovation of modern dentistry.  Itero provides one more reason to discover a different kind of dental experience at Beautiful Dentistry.
